Happy Jury Appreciation Week to the citizens of Prince George’s County!

Each year, an average of 42,000 Prince George’s County residents serve jury duty. This civic service is greatly appreciated by the litigants, the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County and the jury staff. During the week, the Circuit Court will extend a small token of appreciation to acknowledge the commitment and oath that jurors make to be fair and impartial arbitrators of the facts that are presented to them during each trial.

 “The role of the juror is an essential part of our Judicial System and an integral component to enabling the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County to sustain its Mission of providing, “A Fair Forum for Justice,” states the Honorable Sheila R. Tillerson Adams, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County. “The fairness of our Justice System is the backbone of our society and we thank you for your service in ensuring that it operates as intended by the founding fathers of this Nation.”

This year, Juror Appreciation Week is the first week of May. The Circuit Court for Prince George’s County jury operations are led by Judge Sheila R. Tillerson Adams, Judge Dorothy M. Engel, Deputy Court Administrator and Jury Commissioner Erica M. Payne -Santiago, Deputy Jury Commissioner Melissa L. Biggs, Supervisor of the Jury Division Magella Kincaid and the jury staff.

“Answering the call to jury service is critical to the operations of the Circuit Court and allows it to effectively and efficiently resolve disputes between litigants,” adds Ms. Payne-Santiago.
