In recognition of National Women’s History Month, the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County would like to express its sincere appreciation for the indelible contribution women have made on the fabric of society, the Prince George’s County community and the Circuit Court. In commemoration, women of the various divisions of the Circuit Court express the meaningfulness of National Women’s History Month:

“National Women’s History Month is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the power of womanhood. As we continue to uphold the legacy of ancestors, I implore each woman to reflect on their lives and the contributions they make each and every day in their households, communities, organizations and companies around the world – and smile. Smile because women are amazing, intellectual leaders who can effectively multi-task with such grace, fortitude, strength and compassion.”

-Honorable Sheila R. Tillerson Adams, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County

National Women’s History Month reminds us of all the dynamic, strong but humble women that we see in our daily lives. It helps us to remember the trailblazing women who have paved the way while still recognizing all of the women who continue to pave the way. Women’s History Month is a wonderful way to celebrate and acknowledge the phenomenal women that we are!”

-Sondra D. Battle, Court Administrator

“March is an ideal time to celebrate the character, courage and commitment of women throughout history. It is also a time to acknowledge our challenges and understand our power as women, in strengthening throughout our communities."

-Erica M. Payne-Santiago, Deputy Court Administrator/Jury Commissioner

National Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day recognizes the important role that women have played in historical events and their continuing success in seeking equality in all forums.”

-Sheila J. Sullivan, Circuit Court for Prince George’s County Family Division Director

We as woman, should never let fear disempower us!”

-Julisa Cunningham, Problem Solving Courts Director

“National Women’s History Month is of great importance as it’s a time to recognize and celebrate the notable achievements made by female trailblazers who have played an important role in our history, having paved the way for many of us today. They remind us that despite the challenges and obstacles that we often face, we must continue to use our voice to promote justice and equality for women and further create history.”

-Denise C. McCain, Prince George’s County Family Justice Center Director

“National Women’s History Month is a time when I reflect on the old and the new – the accomplishments of my ancestors and the opportunities for the new generation.”

-Tonya E. Baroudi, Circuit Court for Prince George’s County Law Library Director

As I reflect on this year’s theme for National Women’s History Month, ‘Nevertheless, She Persisted,’ I’m reminded of the countless women who’ve inspired me through their persistence. Their stalwart poise and grace spoke volumes despite the difficulties or setbacks they may have faced personally and professionally…nevertheless, they persisted. Today, I am stronger because of their persistence; however, now we must persevere even more. Not because we will reap the benefits of that persistence now, but for the countless girls and young women who will be better positioned later...paying it forward. I believe it’s important to share these messages during National Women’s History Month (and beyond) so that we unapologetically discover our collective voice and become resolute in being heard.

-Nicole A. Cook, Circuit Court for Prince George’s County Human Resources Manager
