The annual event celebrates the contributions of local veterans and their families
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (UPPER MARLBORO, MD - April 30, 2018) – On Thursday, May 17, 2018, the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County will salute veterans and their families during the Ninth Annual Veterans Appreciation Ceremony and Muster. The ceremony will be held at the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 at 9:30 a.m. in the Jury Assembly Room (M2400).
“The annual celebration remains one of the hallmarks at the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County and the community,” says the Honorable Sheila R. Tillerson Adams, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County. “Without the selfless actions of our veterans – and their support systems - we wouldn’t be able to exercise and enjoy our liberties, and for that, I thank you. Additionally, I would like to thank the Honorable Dorothy M. Engel for leading the committee in honoring our local veterans.”
For the ceremony, local veterans will be honored for their service. Additionally, Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School band and local artists will provide a medley of ceremonial hymns and songs for the occasion. Each veteran will receive a medal and a certificate of appreciation.
“I’m truly excited about the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County Veterans Appreciation Ceremony and Muster,” says Judge Engel, an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County and U.S. Army veteran. “I would like to thank all of the veterans and active duty service men and women for proudly safeguarding our country and its freedoms. As a veteran, I was honored to stand side-by-side with soldiers from all religions, races, genders and creeds who had one goal in mind: protecting and serving the land we love.”
In addition to her service, Judge Engel is the spouse of a veteran.
“As we uplift this year’s theme, “Honoring Our Veterans and Their Families,” I applaud the family members who remain an integral part and firm foundation for the many men and women who are deployed and the ancillary journey they take in supporting both the troops and their households. We salute you and thank you for your unwavering support.”
Veterans are encouraged to submit photos and information about their service for a video that will be displayed during the ceremony and streamed online. The ceremony is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.
