The Calendar Management Division is an essential component of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County operation. The Calendar Management Division is responsible for the calendaring of all internal and external events. The Division works closely with Court Administration and the Chief and Administrative Judge for the successful operation of the Division and the Circuit Court overall.
The Calendar Management Division is comprised of 16 employees that manage and schedule an average of 106,000 various hearings each calendar year before 24 Judges, 13 Senior Recalled Judges, and 8 Magistrates in compliance with the respective Circuit Court Differentiated Case Management Plan. The Division’s organizational structure encompasses a Director, two Managers, and a Team Lead that oversee two units within the Division to include - the Family, Civil and Juvenile Scheduling Unit and the Criminal Scheduling and Quality Review Unit.
The Director of the Calendar Management Division oversees a highly competent staff that is donned with the responsibility of - scheduling events for all case types and other Circuit Court events; sending notices to parties; answering telephone inquiries for scheduling of matters from citizens, attorneys, and judges’ chambers; quality reviewing, recording and entering case disposition data from courtrooms daily; assigning courtrooms that are appropriate for each case hearing and determining equipment needs (virtual, in-person, Epson, sufficient capacity, etc.); and coordinating and publishing the daily docket to ensure pending matters are also efficiently and timely addressed.
The Family, Civil and Juvenile Scheduling Unit manages the calendaring of events in Family, Civil and Juvenile Cases (family domestic, civil law and equity, civil foreclosures, juvenile delinquency matters, and Child In Need of Assistance (CINA) cases). The Unit schedules hearings, conferences and trials/merits, enters disposition data daily, produces and publishes daily docket, answers telephone inquiries from citizens, attorneys, and judges’ chambers, as well as managing and monitoring the various assigned family, civil and juvenile courtrooms.
The Criminal Scheduling and Quality Review Unit manages the calendaring of events such as status conferences, jury and non-jury trials, violations of probation (VOPs), sentencing, among other hearing types in criminal matters, enters disposition data daily, produces and publishes daily docket, answers telephone inquiries from citizens, attorneys, and judges’ chambers, as well as monitors the various assigned criminal courtrooms. The Court’s Differentiated Case Management (DCM) Plan Coordinators also work within this unit to assure the prompt and efficient scheduling and disposition of actions within the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County so that time standards are achieved.
The Calendar Management Division has been the “heart” of the Circuit Court through many achievements, challenges, transitions and changes and its commitment continues to the citizens, attorneys and the court that we serve.
